This budget is a gravy train for the ultra wealthy

The President promised lower prices on day one. And a booming economy. Turns out this was just a complete lie.

Republicans aren’t doing one damn thing to help the American people. Instead, they are blowing up the debt and deficit to help their billionaire donors. All at the expense of working-class Americans.

Right now, Republicans are trying to pass a budget that includes 4.5 *trillion* in handouts to the ultra-rich. It's an average annual tax cut of $314,266 for the top 0.1%. And to everyday Americans, they say, tough luck, let's cut vital programs.

How will Republicans pay for these tax breaks for corporations and the ultra-wealthy? By cutting programs that help nurses, teachers, firefighters, plumbers, laborers, and working people across the country.

They’ve already promised to slash Medicaid and SNAP to pay for their mega-rich donors’ tax breaks.

More than 70 million Americans rely on Medicare for health and long-term care. Cuts to the program will have horrendous consequences for families, the elderly, and workers who won’t be able to see their doctor or afford medicine.

SNAP food assistance provides for 1 in 8 Americans — including 1 in 5 children! — who depend on food assistance to buy the groceries they need. Republicans must have hearts of stone if they think it’s okay to take away food from children and disabled folks, justso they can help billionaires and corporations get away with paying less in taxes.

Make no mistake, they’re going to come after other programs too. How else will they keep the swindle going? Social Security and Medicare are next.

Despite this horrendous Republican budget, we must fight like hell to make sure that we continue to fight for a government that works for the American people. Protect Social Security and Medicare. And support Medicaid and SNAP – because we know these programs are essential for keeping millions of Americans who live on the brink of food insecurity.

The American people deserve a budget that invests in working families. Not one that robs them. The Republican budget doesn’t strengthen our economy—it weakens it by making it harder for regular people to get ahead. Plain and simple, Republicans are betraying the middle class. All so the rich can get richer. Pathetic.

More soon,

Jim
