Bracing for tonight’s Joint Session
Every time I think we know what nonsense Trump will spew next, he somehow outdoes himself. Last week's disastrous stunt with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy is no exception. Now, we're all bracing ourselves for what's next.
Tonight, he's set to deliver a speech in a Joint Session to Congress. During this address, he will no doubt boast about his chaotic efforts to dismantle the federal government, attack immigrants, further alienate U.S. allies, and drive up the cost of living for average Americans.
His administration has dedicated the first six weeks of his presidency to sowing hate, pursuing vanity projects like renaming bodies of water, and dismantling essential agencies of government, leaving so many of our nation's great civil servants unemployed and their projects at a standstill.
As he takes the stage, I'll be in the audience for the empty rhetoric, fear-mongering, and self-congratulation — there is a coalition of people like us waiting in the wings to take action to hold him accountable the moment the final syllable leaves his little mouth.
If you'd like to watch the address, you can find it using one of the buttons below. Alternatively, you can watch the Democratic response and spare yourself the headache. Michigan's first-term Senator, Elissa Slotkin, will provide the Democratic Party's remarks following Trump's address on Tuesday, and California's Rep. Lateefah Simon will also give a response for progressives from the Working Families Party.
In solidarity,
Jim
