Tucker Carlson, Elon Musk, RFK Jr., Dr. Phil, Rudy Giuliani…nightmare material

Yesterday, Josh reached out to Massachusetts voters to emphasize what we need to accomplish in the final seven days ahead of Election Day. He wrote to you describing our plans for our final weekend of canvassing, the very narrow (5 seats!) margins we need to take back the House, and highlighted some of the races critical to that goal.

Today, I want to talk about what the MAGA Republicans have dedicated their last few days of campaign time to. Trump held a rally in New York City, inviting a cast of characters eager to sow hate and division. Within minutes of the rally starting, a laundry list of plainly stupid and crass comments flooded the airways.

Three headlines from AP News, NPR, and the New York Times highlight the "crude," "racist," vitriol at the Trump rally.

Trump's idea of a good time? Senseless comments about Hispanic culture, the suggestion that Puerto Rico is a "floating island of garbage," Tucker Carlson invoking deadly conspiracy theories, Trump announcing he wants to bring back laws from the 1700s, and too many xenophobic rants to count — including a wild riff about Vice President Harris being "the devil" while waving a crucifix and chanting U-S-A.

Look, we don't have time to pick apart all of the nonsense that was spewed during that event. What I will say on behalf of the 42,000 Puerto Ricans I proudly represent and countless other groups who were villanized during those speeches: we must reject each and every disgusting lie. America deserves better.

If that's how they want to spend the last few days of the Election cycle, so be it. Hell, at least they're saying the quiet part out loud. That just means we have to work harder to combat their divisive and violent rhetoric.

So, today as we plan our final weekend of canvassing efforts of the year — we're eager to cover even more ground than originally anticipated. Because like Josh said, we need to focus on the tasks at hand:

  • Reaching as many voters as possible about the candidates and initiatives up and down our ballots;
  • Defending the 214 Democrats currently in the House, including 11" toss-ups,"
  • Mobilizing voters for the Harris-Walz campaign, and
  • Combatting the disinformation and fear-mongering by the Trump machine.

There is an attainable, bright future for all of us with President Kamala Harris. And we now know just what to expect from the Trump-Vance ticket.
