🎠They’re putting on quite the show:
Republicans love putting on a good show. Whether it’s fighting amongst themselves to become Speaker and pass zero legislation, or competing to see who can get away with the wackiest, most offensive lies possible, they can’t resist the spotlight. As entertaining as this seems, it is actually quite dangerous.
Unfortunately, the band of merry misfits do hold the House majority and are in charge of setting the legislative agenda for the chamber. What do we get as a result? Theater. Instead of focusing on the multitude of issues that concern the American people, the GOP have elected to spend their time on sham legislation designed to score political points with their base.
Election day is rapidly approaching. As we’re headed into the home stretch of this election, it’s crucial that Democrats have the resources to take back the House majority and get back to governing.
Concerned about their plans to cut Social Security, Medicare, and affordable health care, and other critical safety nets?
Don’t worry! The GOP has a resolution ready to condemn “woke teachers” (whatever that means).
Worried about how you’ll put food on the table, cover rent, or float an unexpected expense?
It’s alright! Their plans to raise taxes on hard-working Americans while giving breaks to their billionaire friends should only hurt a little and besides, they’re fighting the good fight against “woke economic policies.”
Stressed about their attacks on reproductive freedom, LGBQTIA+ protections, and the dangerous and untrue rhetoric about immigrants?
Pish posh — it’s not THAT serious! They’ve got nonsense articles of impeachment to file against DHS Secretary Mayorkas. It’ll be fun!
Jokes aside, this behavior extends beyond the normal range of their unintentional entertainment, and beyond the bounds of their usual grandstanding. This isn’t just theater, it’s theater of the absurd.
America deserves better than this. So join our efforts to put Democrats in the best position to take back the House and get back to working on your behalf.
