Beyond quips about couches

So many things have happened in the last few weeks, it’s hard to comprehend that despite just learning who our Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates are — we are only 80 days out from Election Day. 

As news outlets report on the Harris-Walz and Trump-Vance campaigns, the stories they’re telling underscore that our nation is at a crossroads. 

With Trump, J.D. Vance, and their allies pushing Project 2025, we are facing a coordinated effort to dismantle social protections, undermine health care and civil rights, and erode the very foundation of our democracy. What too many pundits are failing to mention amidst quips about couches and interviews with voters is that this is well beyond politics or even a single election now: it's about safeguarding the future of our country and the well-being of millions of Americans. 

Hell, Trump said it himself:

"We have to win this election, most important election ever. We want a landslide that’s too big to rig… And again, Christians, get out and vote just this time. You won’t have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what? It’ll be fixed, it’ll be fine, you won’t have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians. I love you, Christians. I'm a Christian. I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don't have to vote again, we'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote."

Between Project 2025, that statement, and the rest of the nonsense they’ve spewed on TV, I think they’ve made their objectives clear. 

Right now, we’re facing one of the most radical right-wing agendas in our lifetimes. The only way to defeat Trump and the MAGA mentality is to continue fighting for social justice, health care, and economic equity. We’ve done it before. And I am confident we can do it again. But I cannot do this alone.
