You’re clipping coupons and building their sixth vacation home.
I’m sure you’re familiar with the tale of Robin Hood: a merry bandit who steals from the rich in order to feed the poor. It’s supposed to be a story we tell to children to teach them compassion for those who have less, while also driving home that stealing, even for the right reasons, is wrong.
I don’t think the GOP fully understood this story.
You see, as part of their infamous Project 2025, they’ve outlined a series of proposals to steal from the poor and give to the rich. Here’s what they’ve got in store:
- Increasing taxes on working and middle class families by removing lower tax brackets
- Eliminating programs like the Child Tax Credit (which reduced child poverty by half in 2023) and other deductions which benefit working families
- Instituting a national sales tax, driving up the cost of living for the average American
- Slashing the corporate tax rate and capital gains tax (I wonder who that helps…)
Republicans want us to believe that these proposals are fair-minded and benefit all of us equally. After doing the reading, I think you would agree that we get the short end of the stick here.
Hard working Americans are worried about how to put food on the table and clothes on their backs, while the wealthiest among us worry about where they will build their 11th house.
As usual, they’re offering solutions to problems only their billionaire buddies have. It’s just another example of how far out of touch Donald Trump and the Republican party are with the needs of this country.
We (literally) can’t afford to have Republicans take Congress or the White House and implement their radical agenda to make the rich richer.
Yours in the fight,
Jim
