President Biden has announced that he is ending his re-election campaign and won't be seeking the Democratic nomination. This decision was handled the way that President Biden always acted: with selflessness and honor. Passing the torch to a new generation is a historic action, and one he did with grace and integrity.
He put our country ahead of himself — something Donald Trump has never done and is incapable of doing.
As President, Joe Biden's legacy will be one of the most consequential in American history. He promised to restore the soul of our nation during his campaign, and he delivered on that promise. He defeated Donald Trump and spent every day making sure that our democracy stood strong against the threat of authoritarianism. He delivered the biggest investment against climate change in our history, passed the largest infrastructure bill in decades, and created more jobs than any other Administration.
These are just the highlights from a groundbreaking term as President.
Now, I am thrilled to wholeheartedly endorse Kamala Harris to be our nominee and continue the important work, started by Joe Biden, of Building Back Better. Throughout Vice President Harris’s career in public service she has shown an incredible ability to bring people together, take on the big banks and special interests, stand up for the underdog, and to always fight for what she believes in.
