It's time to get their heads out of the sand
Happy Summer Solstice!
Today is the longest day of the year. This week was another reminder of our new reality: unprecedented extreme weather wreaking havoc on our planet and our plans. Right here in Massachusetts, Worcester schools were forced to end early for the summer because of dangerous heat levels.
When each successive summer is "the hottest in human history," it becomes impossible to deny the impact of climate change on our planet.
Or so we would think.
MAGA extremists in the Republican party have decided that instead of acknowledging the crisis, they're going to stick their heads in the cash-rich sands of climate denialism. Time and time again, Republicans have shown us that they're willing to sacrifice the well-being of this country for their own power and influence.
Maybe it's time we start taking them at their word.
When Democrats had the majority in Congress, we passed the single largest investment in climate action in American history. As unprecedented heatwaves, wildfires, flooding, and storms unfold around the globe year after year, we must remember that we can make a difference.
Through technological innovations, creative solutions, and behavior change (especially at the corporate level) we can begin to heal our planet. We simply need the political will to follow through. We cannot wait another term to take even bolder action on climate — our lives and planet depend on it. Can you chip in $24 to help us flip the House in November?
When Democrats controlled Congress, we made historic progress. Let's take back Congress and finish the job.
Yours in the fight,
Jim
