We won this battle, but the fight continues.
Last week, we finally got a major win in the fight for bodily autonomy. SCOTUS shut down the plaintiff's attempt to eliminate access to the abortion pill Mifepristone that would have denied millions of people the medical care they need.
Even Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas said these people had no right to bring this case. This means people will still have access to Mifepristone, for now at least.
That said, Republicans still want to institute a national abortion ban, limit access to all forms of contraception, and continue their attacks on bodily autonomy.
Most Americans support abortion access, for one simple reason: abortion is health care. Sometimes it is medically necessary and sometimes it saves lives. But one thing is always true: it is always a personal choice, and it never needs involvement from the government.
Despite the fact that the majority of Americans agree, Republicans continue to fight for dangerous and out-of-touch policies that endanger the rights of everyone to live free.
We got some much needed good news in the fight for reproductive justice, but the fight is far from over. The Republican party wants to send us back to the stone age, rob Americans of their right to control their lives, and force their draconian ideology upon all of us.
If Trump and the GOP take control of our government, they will have the power to institute radical far-right policy that will damage every part of our democracy, starting with women's liberties.
In solidarity,
Jim
