Another day at the circus
I’m proud of how Democrats ran the House of Representatives when we were in the majority–keeping Congress running smoothly and doing our job to ensure that the people’s work always came first.
In contrast, the incompetence of this do-nothing Republican majority is staggering.
Let’s recap. Last year, they wasted a full month just arguing with each other about who should be the speaker. They almost caused a catastrophic debt default, nearly shut the government down, and spent weeks on end trying and failing to pass anything at all. They wasted an entire year of our time with nothing to show for it.
You’d think they’d use the new year as a chance to start over, but you’d be wrong. Just last week, they once again failed to pass their own bills because MAGA Republicans were arguing with extreme MAGA Republicans about whether or not to go back on their own spending deal and demand severe cuts to programs that everyday people rely on.
And this week, with just days until the government shuts down, they’ve scheduled more bills attacking abortion access and pushing their illegitimate impeachment investigation.
We have to regain control and return to providing a government that works for everyone.
Let me be clear, House Republicans are once again playing political games with the funding for crucial programs like Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.
It all starts with us,
Jim
