Sign the petition: Tell the GOP to stop their authoritarian book bans!
A small (but very loud) minority of far-right extremists are on a mission to ban as many books from our schools and libraries as possible.
They claim to be up in arms about inappropriate materials, but we all know it's just a ruse. Most of these complainers haven't even bothered to crack open the very books they're so vehemently against.
Sign our petition today and tell the GOP to stop these authoritarian book bans!
The majority of the bans are focused on stories about people of color and the LGBTQI+ community. Seriously, they can't handle books about Rosa Parks or male penguins raising a chick? Give me a break!
But they're not satisfied with challenging individual books.
Now they're pushing for "wholesale bans" that would shut down libraries and keep countless books under scrutiny. They've made the review process as long as possible, so even if these books are eventually returned to the shelves, they have been unavailable for months.
I'm not backing down in the fight against these bans. In Congress, I'll keep raising my voice and pushing back against this authoritarianism. Together, we can put a stop to this absurdity and keep books where they belong – in the hands of readers.
