Even a broken clock is right twice a day
The right-wing Supreme Court actually managed to do something right – in a surprise 5-4 decision, they kept the critical Voting Rights Act intact.
It's ridiculous that the Justices even agreed to hear this case – but I am glad they did the right thing in the end.
I guess even a broken clock is right twice a day.
We can't always rely on the Supreme Court to do the right thing for this country. So, let's celebrate this victory and get back to work cracking down on voter suppression by:
- Ending partisan gerrymandering, Election Day barriers, undue barriers to registration, and unjust voter roll purges;
- Fighting discriminatory voter ID laws; attacks on voter registration; the rampant elimination of polling locations in underserved communities; and
- Increasing access to early and mail-in voting and same-day voter registration.
Yours in the fight,
Jim
