A false dichotomy
The fossil fuel industry and its Republican allies like to fearmonger. They love to perpetuate lies that clean energy costs millions of jobs.
But it seems like every other week, we're finding out that some fossil fuel companies knew about the climate crisis decades ago and actively funded climate denial campaigns to maintain their profit margins.
Greedy fossil fuel executives and Republican sellouts don't care about Americans' livelihoods. All they care about is money in their pockets. Climate-related disasters cost the United States $165 billion last year alone.
Here's the truth: we don't have to choose between clean energy and jobs. Clean energy production creates jobs.
Last summer, we passed the Inflation Reduction Act, the single largest investment in clean energy in the United States. It creates tens of thousands of clean energy jobs in every state. Not only that, but it lowers the cost for small businesses and consumers through energy efficiency improvements.
The Inflation Reduction Act shuts down the false dichotomy between economic growth and climate policy.
While a major victory, the Inflation Reduction Act is not enough. It's important that we keep pushing for good climate legislation. The climate crisis is here. We must do all we can to protect future generations.
I'll continue to put people over politics and show up for the American people and the planet.
